You can tell the computer to send information to a file instead of to the screen, as is demonstrated below.

The symbols "<" and "|" work similarly, but I haven't taken the time to investigate their usages.

By the way, to put MS-DOS into full-screen mode, the way a real MS-DOS computer would be, press ALT+Enter. You can return to Windows by pressing ALT+Enter again or by pressing ALT+Tab or any of a number of other combinations. The screen refresh rate is much, much better in full-screen mode, so all games should be run in full-screen mode.
